Eastern Blooms CASE

I was in need of a spring card during my stamping escape today and so I decided to CASE a card by Andrea Walford. I did use the same color scheme and main stamp set, but changed it up a bit in layout. Sorry the picture is so dark ~ I just can't seem to master those camera skills...! But, darkness aside, this seems to be a happy card to me ~ at least in person. The colors are very vibrant in person. All of the flowers were stamped and cut out separately, adhered with a dimensional. I did put some Stickles glitter in the middle of each flower as well for a little dimension and sparkle.
Supplies:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Upsy Daisy (sentiment)
Cardstock: Summer Sun, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Summer Sun, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Stickles glitter, dimensionals

Bella Box Class
Fee: $20.00
Thursday, March 26, 2009, 6:30 PM
Space is limited so contact me today to register.

We will make some matching notecards to place inside the box as well. You won't want to miss this!

Retired Bunny

I know this bunny from A New Little Someone is retired, but I just don't have any current baby sets and I needed to make a baby shower card. I colored him with watercolor pencils and then set the colors with a blender pen. The bow came out too "purply" for this pink card, but what can you do...? LOL! It is late!

Supplies:
Stamps: A New Little Someone
Cardstock: Bella Rose DSP, Whisper White, Regal Rose
Ink: Jet Black Stazon
Accessories: Watercolor pencils, Blender pen, paper piercer, scallop edge punch, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon

What do you think? Would you like to make this card? I can't sell you my retired stamp set, but we can easily replace the image with something current! Simply click on the "Shop Now" button at the top of the right column of this blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Wednesday!

Today is Wednesday! You know what that means, don't you? It is Diva Coffee Break Designs challenge day! Each Wednesday there is another challenge issued. This week's challenge is a sketch challenge. I came up with a card based on this sketch, but it wasn't easy! I kept changing and changing my card because I just wasn't quite happy with any of my finished products. I was trying to keep it simple - which was probably the problem for me. But..... here is what I came up with....
Since it is still Sale-A-Bration time, I used a Sale-A-Bration set, Botanical Blooms. There is still time to earn this set for FREE with a $50 purchase (before tax and shipping). Simply go to my website and click on "Shop Now". Or, you can contact me and I will place your order for you! It's easy!

Stamps: Botanical Blooms, Fresh Cuts (sentiment)
Ink: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Jet Black Stazon
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP
Accessories: Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, scallop edge punch, scallop circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, white gel pen

Thoughts and Prayers

Unfortunately, sometimes we are in need of a sympathy card. The Thoughts and Prayers stamp set has been on my wish list since this catalog period began, way back in January. I finally ordered it. It has two beautiful images and several sentiments. I just know I am going to get lots of use out of this set - though hopefully I won't need a lot of sympathy cards! I saw this layout and color scheme on this card here by Kelly Lunceford as I was browsing and changed it up a bit. For the image itself, I colored marker directly onto the stamp before applying to paper.
Since the base of the card is Basic Black, I layered some Green Galore and Vanilla on the inside of the card as well.

Supplies:
Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers
Ink: Apricot Appeal marker, Certainly Celery marker, Chocolate Chip marker, Chocolate Chip ink pad
Cardstock: Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Vanilla
Accessories: Vanilla 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, eyelet edge punch

Simple Bella Card

I made a couple of these simple cards with matching envelopes to go into the Bella card holder from yesterday's post. The colors for the card are Certainly Celery and Elegant Eggplant. They are stamped on Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the stem and leaves first and then used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the flower at the top of the stem. I just inked the flower separately without inking the stem and leaves. Hope that makes sense! The "Thank You" sentiment is also from the Bella Rose stamp set. The card holder / booklet is held closed by a piece of Elegant Eggplant 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

This was such a fun project to make and is perfect for homemade gifts. The box template was created by Lauren Meader and purchased through www.papertreyink.com.

A Bella Box

Happy Friday everyone! I am busy preparing for a workshop that I have tomorrow. I thought I would share the gift I am making for my hostess. You all know how much I just love making cards with matching gift boxes. Here is another!
This one opens on the side, like a book, and inside are two folders to hold the cards and envelopes. It is held closed by a piece of grosgrain ribbon. I used the Bella Rose stamp set for the outside decor and the cards themselves so they match. Here is a picture of the inside. I did use some old retired designer paper for the inside as that was all I had on hand to match the eggplant color of the flower. I will post again over the weekend and show the cards that I put in to match.

Would you like to make this Bella Box? I will show you how at a class on Thursday, March 26th and I would love for you to come! The fee is $20 for this class. Space is limited so make sure you reserve your spot today simply by e-mailing me!

It's Wednesday!

Time for another Diva Coffee Break Challenge! Our challenge this week (#118) was to use the Big Shot. As you know, I just LOVE my Big Shot and use it quite frequently, so this really wasn't a stretch for me. I used the Texturz Plate as well as the Top Note die for this card. The dots background from the Texturz Plate may be a little hard to see, but they are on the back white layer. The Top Note die was used on both the Kiwi Kiss as well as the Bella Rose DSP and then I cut along the perforation on the DSP it would be a little smaller and you could see the layering. Stop on over at the Diva Coffee Break blog and check out the other design team members creations. You won't be disappointed!

Supplies:
Stamps: Echoes of Kindness
Ink: Black Stazon, Ridinghood Red, Kiwi Kiss
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Ridinghood Red, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP
Accessories: Blender Pen, Brads, Ridinghood Red ribbon

Wanna play? Just link your creation to Mr. Linky on the DCBD blog. If you need help doing so, I would be happy to help you. Just let me know!

Simple, stepped up

I made this card using the technique of masking. I took a basic white card and added a little dimension by placing scoring lines on the left vertical side of the card and the lower horizontal portion of the card. I used my stylus and paper cutter to achieve this effect. I then stamped the butterfly from the Level 1 hostess set, God's Beauty, in Lovely Lilac. As well, I stamped the sentiment at the bottom, also in Lovely Lilac. I then stamped the butterfly again on a piece of scrap paper and cut it out. Using some repositionable Dotto adhesive to hold it in place, I placed the cut out butterfly directly on top of the butterfly stamped on the card. I inked the leaf image in Kiwi Kiss and stamped directly onto my card several times. The point of the "masked" butterfly image is so that no Kiwi Kiss ink gets on my original butterfly image, protecting it so to speak, and it gives the leaves the appearance of being behind the butterfly. After having all of the leaves that I want in place, I removed the mask. I hope that explanation made sense!

For those who like their cards "stepped up" a bit, I then added a layer of Lovely Lilac card stock to the back of the card and tied some Kiwi Kiss 5/8" grosgrain ribbon to the front layer.
Supplies:
Stamps: God's Beauty (Level 1, Hostess set)
Ink: Lovely Lilac, Kiwi Kiss
Cardstock: Whisper White, Lovely Lilac
Accessories: Kiwi Kiss 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, scoring tool
I plan to show this simple card and its "stepped up" version at my workshop this week.

Mini Notes

I just love the way this little butterfly, from Flight of the Butterfly, looks when layered with circle punches and the scallop circle punch. There is just something so dainty about it.

These little "mini notes" make an adorable gift. Four note cards and envelopes fit into this little box holder. The cards themselves are 2-3/4" x 4". Both the box and the front of the cards themselves are wheeled with the jumbo So Swirly wheel in Green Galore ink.

Supplies:
Stamps: So Swirly Jumbo Wheel, Flight of the Butterfly, Warm Words
Paper: Green Galore, So Saffron, Whisper White, So Saffron DSP (for the envelopes)
Ink: Green Galore, So Saffron, Basic Brown
Accessories: White grosgrain ribbon, circle punches, scallop circle punch, dimensionals, paper piercer

A Bunny Case

On one of my endless blog surfing escapades, I came across the most adorable little bunny that another demonstrator, Gretchen Barron, posted on her blog with a card. I used the same idea, turned mine lengthwise and attached to a gift bag filled with candy for an Easter treat. The entire bunny is made from punches and the Top Note die with the Big Shot.
All of the edges of the white pieces are sponged with Rose Red ink and a sponge dauber. The whites of the eyes were made with a white gel pen.
Supplies:
Stamps: None!
Ink: Rose Red, Black marker
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Rose Red, Basic Black
Accessories: Black gingham ribbon, gel pen, Big Shot, Top Note die, circle and oval punches, Heart to Heart punch, jumbo eyelets, Crop-A-Dile

It's Time for a Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge

Every Wednesday, another Diva Coffee Break Design challenge is issued. Last week we had a color challenge. Did you play along? This week, we have a sketch challenge. Starting out with a sketch layout makes it so easy to make a card - for me, anyway! While sometimes it is easy to follow the sketch exactly, at other times I choose to leave something out or change it up a bit depending on my mood. With this sketch, I chose to put my "sentiment" in the larger image box so I didn't add a sentiment where the sketch asked for one.
Supplies:
Stamps: Echoes of Kindness
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Basic Gray, Kiwi Kiss, Urban Garden DSP, Vanilla
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Vintage brads, Kiwi Kiss grosgrain ribbon, Gray taffeta ribbon
So, what do you think? Want to play? Come on, you know you do...! Hop on over to the Diva Coffee Break Designs blog for some more inspiration for this sketch and then give it a try on your own. You can upload your creation on the Diva blog using Mr. Linky, or you can email me a copy of your creation and I post it for you!

Monday Mojo - Even Though it is Tuesday...

As always, my mojo is running a little behind. Story of my life...LOL! Nonetheless, it is here and I am happy with what I created. Julee's Monday Mojo76 sketch is awesome, as usual.
I used the Pun Fun set again. Just can't seem to get enough of this little hippo. This stamp set really is quite versatile and you don't always have to stamp the words with the images, which can change the whole theme of the card. In retrospect, I probably would have added a third color of cardstock, such as Basic Gray, just to add a little more color. However, I didn't think of this until it was all put together and I didn't want to take a chance ruining the card.
Supplies:
Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Urban Garden DSP
Ink: Jet Black Stazon
Accessories: Silver brads, Baja Breeze grosgrain ribbon, watercolor pencils, blender pen

All in all I am happy with how this card turned out. Let me know what you think! If you would like to purchase any of the product used to make this card, just go to my website and click on "Shop Now".
