We all know that I have a hard time with simple. What can I say...that is just me! I needed a make-n-take for one of my downline's first party with a group who didn't have much experience stamping. So, this definitely fit. I think it is pretty simple and straightforward. But feel free to ask questions if it isn't.

It is only October, but Christmas is fast approaching! I just loved this card when I saw it on another demo's blog. This was originally created by Joanne Weimers.

This card was fun to make. I haven't embossed in quite some time. The middle ornament was simply punched from a piece of Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP. This particular piece is beautifully textured with some flocking. It is so pretty in person.

Isn't this little ornament adorable? This is made by stamping six ornaments from the Delightful Decorations stamp set in Real Red onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then simply punching them out with the Ornament punch. Both the stamp set and this new punch are featured in the Holiday Mini catalog. I folded each of the six punched images in half and then glued them side by side, added a little elastic gold cord (also in the Holiday Mini) and finally, added some 1/4" Vanilla grosgrain ribbon. So simple and made in about 10 minutes! This would look adorable hanging on your tree this holiday season, but would also make beautiful accent to a gift with a little gift tag attached! You have got to make one! I wish I could take credit, but I did see this on Wanda Pettijohn's blog. Too cute!

Over at Late Night Stampers Group this week, our design team challenge is to take a simple card that we have already created - or one from the catalog - and "step it up" a bit. The inspiration for this card started with a sample on page 6 of the Holiday Mini using the Sweet Centers stamp set. Unfortunately, I didn't have any candy to put into the center of this card, so I chose to use some of my retired buttons. I have found a way to make a "slider" for the back of the cup so that I can fill it with candy and the candy can still be accessible without ruining the card. All that hard work go to waste...? I don't think so! I will show that in another post with a Halloween card.

Back to the subject at hand.....after I punched the 1-3/4" circle for the cup to fit in, I used that circle as a template to make some clouds in the background by using a sponge dauber and some Bashful Blue ink. I know it is difficult to see in this picture, though.

TGIF! Today's card showcases a submission for last week's LNS challenge to use our chalks. I knew I wanted to use this big Medallion stamp, but my card didn't really turn out the way I envisioned. I used the popping pastels technique. The image was first stamped with VersaMark and then I went over the stamped image with my chalks and a Q-Tip. The chalk colors stick to the Versamark ink and make the image POP - even when it is pretty dry! In the center, I placed a circle rhinestone brad. Pretty simple and straightforward.

How about a little Halloween for a change of pace? It is quickly approaching! I used the adorable Pumpkin Patch set from the Holiday Mini and basically recreated the card sample in the Mini for this set. I simply stepped it up a bit to reflect my style a little bit more. I am quite please with how it came out. These pumpkins are just precious. Plus, they aren't just for pumpkin use! These shapes can be Easter Eggs or balloons.....just let your imagination take you away! So many possibilities!

Diva Sketch 147

It's sketch time! This was a simple and straightforward sketch to work with this week. It is much easier for me to work with a layout in mind first. Then, sometimes (hopefully!) I can picture what stamp or stamp set or DSP I want to use with it.

Not much stamping on this card. I do love this color combination and I think the Cottage Wall DSP is so pretty. The punched flower is simply two of the 5-petal punch flowers layered on top with a rhinestone brad in the middle.

You KNOW I LOVE my punches! Well, the new Ornament punch from the Holiday Mini is just adorable in and of itself. But, I have learned that it can be quite versatile in that it creates a vase shape as well as a fish shape..... Obviously a must have!! LOL! Today's card was inspired by another demo, but I changed it up a bit and added some designer series paper from the Hostess Paper Pack.

I received some beautiful designer series paper from the Holiday Mini called Christmas Cocoa Specialty. So pretty! I saw a card on LNS by Melissa Riker made with this paper and decided to make a similar card. And so...out came Holiday Lineup. Such a cute set. Rudolph's nose has some Crystal Effects on it to make it shiny. I placed three red brads along the Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon so it wasn't so plain.

Diva Color Challenge 146

How about a color challenge this week? These colors were a little difficult to visualize going together at first, but once I got going, it seemed to flow easily. This card is very similar - almost identical except for the stamp set and one or two little changes - to a card I did a week or so ago,

but I actually did this one first and then the other for a Big Shot challenge submission for Late Night Stampers Group.
